The Best Business Advice I Ever Got

The best business advice I ever got came from two resources, and had I listened as soon as I heard it, I would have made a lot more money online than I did. This year I finally did listen, and now I’m making more money online, I’m doing what I really feel passionate about, and I have more time to do other things besides write or work.

For those of you who have been with me for awhile, you know that in 2005, all three of my daughters got pregnant. None of them were married, which doesn’t seem to be a prerequisite for that kind of thing these days.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t tell others how to live their lives. However, we’re talking about my daughters here, and needless to say, I was somewhat disappointed in them. (This is an understatement.)

A baby is always a welcome addition to our family though, and so I came around, and I was the excited grandma.

On May 25, 2005, we were blessed with Ava Marie Ratliff. (She was born to my middle daughter, Danielle.) Ava was born at about 22 – 27 weeks, and she was very premature. She did very well at first, but around August, she took a turn for the worst and died August 15. She died of a staph infection.

I accepted this. I will never understand why it happened, and I miss her, but I accepted it.

Five weeks later, my oldest daughter, Ashley, gave birth to Brayden William Copeland. (September 21). He was born, and then died the same day.

I was devastated. I’ve never considered suicide the way I did that day. Brayden got a blood clot in his umbilical cord, and it killed him. It’s taken a long time for me to find peace on this and finally talk about it. The reason I am telling you this now is that no matter where you are at in your business or life, or what has happened to you, you can do it. You really have to want it, and you will have to overcome any, and all obstacles that stand in your way.

For the next few months after this, I sweated. On April 5, 2006, Amelia Faye Smith, my third grandchild was born to my youngest daughter Alex and her husband. She is a very beautiful and healthy, and active! little girl, and I now take care of her full time while her mother works.

I’ve found peace in my life, and with the changes to my business, as well as the changes I’ve made to my life, it’s all pretty good now.

Now, about the advice I got:

Chris Ellington, the owner of Article Marketer, told me that I needed more focus in my business. Find that one thing I loved and stick with it. For me, that’s blogging and writing, and now that I’m applying what he told me, it’s paying off. (He told me this in November 2005).

So, find that one thing you love to do and do it. Focus all of your attention on it, and don’t quit until you get to where you need to be. Your gifts, and what you have to offer the world, are tied together. Find and make that connection.

I really think this is the number one reason people fail online: lack of focus. They also often don’t know how to get to where they want to go, or they don’t know what they want.

Which lead me to the other advice I got:

Although I signed up for the Simpleology Course when it first came out, I really didn’t do anything with it until this year. (It’s taken me a long time to really commit to what I want to do, and I’ve gone through a lot to get there.)

What this course did for me was to give me focus. It helped to me decide what it really was I wanted to do to make money and then do it. Simpleology 101 is free. Don’t you owe it to yourself?

That’s the best business advice I’ve gotten right there. In a nutshell. It’s taken me a long time to apply it, but now I’m glad I did.

So what’s your challenge today? What do you need to do, or overcome, to reach your goals? Answer that, and you’re halfway to where you need to be to having everything you want.

What Happened to Blog Rush?

Quality over Quantity – Lost Over 200 Blog Rush Blogs

I hadn’t even bothered to check my blogs on Blog Rush until I ran across this story on John Chow’s blogs. After I read it, I logged into my Blog Rush account, only to find out that my Internet Marketing for Free Blog was one of those blogs labeled low quality, spam.

You can imagine that I was crushed. I’ve worked really hard on this blog, and I’m always looking for stuff, free if possible, to help all of you with your marketing efforts. I guess there’s no appeal process, and since this blog isn’t included at Blog Rush, I removed the code from my other blog.

I did it because I never liked the blogs that were displaying on my other blog. I just don’t think it’s appropriate to display other religions or atheist blogs on a Christian blog. To me using Blog Rush was like recommending other blogs on my blog. It was also a way to get traffic too, but it wasn’t traffic I wanted if it meant an association I didn’t think was appropriate.

Traffic really is no good to you if it isn’t targeted because you want people visiting your site that are interested in what you have to offer. This is my reason for ultimately removing this code.

The alternative was to set up all of my sites on My Blog Log, and I’m very pleased with the results. My Blog Log is owned by Yahoo now, and Yahoo has always been really good to me and my sites.

Let me be clear here: although I don’t agree with what Blog Rush did, and I’m not the only one that they did this to, I don’t believe that I’ve done anything wrong. I don’t believe that trying to offer your readers and customers the very best value is wrong. I also don’t believe that trying to provide the best resources to your readers is wrong.

Recently, I did a complete overhaul of my business model based on what was really making me money. The purpose was to do more of what I was already doing, based on what I had learned from Marke Joyner’s Simpleology Course. (If you haven’t taken this course yet, I highly recommend it. It’s helped me make more money from my business, as well as finding my real passion and doing it.)

Most of my money was coming from blogging, writing articles, and affiliate programs. So, that’s where my focus will be from now on, and, as always, I’ll only be writing about the best.

For those of you who love to write, blogging really is the way to go. Although I don’t make as much money as John Chow, and a lot of other six figure bloggers, I do pretty well.

Anyway, I’m done with Blog Rush. I’m sorry I recommended it, and I won’t recommend it anymore. I like My Blog Log, and I hope you’ll pay me a visit over there.

Now, about my business overhaul:

I’ve converted all of my sites but two to blogs (I own 10 total). I’ll be adding videos, articles, reviews, and tons of other resources to these sites to help my readers in the future, and I’ll be writing about internet business, internet marketing, marketing for writers, and my latest edition, Over 40 and Fabulous. I may even just put up a picture of my granddaughter on here (My third grandchild).

Crack The MySpace Code for Free

Crack The MySpace Code

I’ll have to be honest; ever since I put music, as well as a Mustang Cobra on my MySpace profile, I’ve been getting a lot more new friends. The more friends you make at MySpace, the more people you have to connect with about your offers, as well as network with. I think this is a good thing.

Strong relationships online are important because many of the people you do business with you probably won’t ever get to meet, but it’s still nice to get to know them.

Now, if you’re new to marketing on MySpace, or you simply want to dress up your profile, then you need something to market, or you need a place to go to get some nice stuff for your profile.

This site provides all of that for free. You’ll find tweaks, videos, bulletins, backgrounds, and a ton of other tools to help you make money on MySpace.

For those of you who are interested in breaking into Web 2.0, and using it to market your business, then this is the way to do it. It’s easy, and it’s free.

PLR Wholesaler – Free Private Label Products

PLR Wholesaler

This is a resource that I am almost reluctant to tell you about. It really is that good. In fact, just about every product I’ve seen from this guy is really good, and he’s going to get a lot of money out of me! LOL.

What this site offers, of course, is lots of private label rights products. However, what makes it different from a lot of other free private label rights sites is that that the products offered here are actually top notch. Gabor even includes free software and other tools you can use to help you build your business.

There is an upgrade if you’re interested, and it’s more reasonable than a lot of other upgrades I’ve seen for this type of membership site.

Here’s just a short list of what free members can get:

Exlusive Unique Products

Affiliate Track – Affiliate Link Tracker
Easy Squeeze Page Genarator

New Products

GO FTP Software with Master Resell Rights
CBLockPro Script w/Private Label Rights
No Cost PPC – The Secrets To Unlimited PPC Traffic
Blogging On Steroids w/Master Resell Rights
How To Break Into The “How To Make Money Online” Niche by Sara Brown with Resell Rights
Zero To Fifty in 30 Days w/Master Resell Rights
ScreenSaver Maker Pro w/Private Label Rights

This really is just the short list. There are tons of other products available in this package to free members.

One of the things I like the best about this site is the amount of promotional tools that are available to affiliates. This includes videos and other resources to teach you how to promote, but you also get ebooks and stuff like that that you can brand and give away to promote the site. There’s also an affiliate link brander to help you create affiliate links to increase your profits on the affiliate programs you sell.

Again, this is a marketer that is new to me, but he is definitely someone I’ll be watching, and buying from because he’s some of the best I’ve seen in a long time: Gabor Olah.
