Find out what it is that you’re really interested in. Match your personality to your marketing. If you hate writing, then writing articles is definitely not for you, and this is only one example. If you want to use a marketing technique that you’re not interested in doing, then you can always outsource the work. Regardless of how you choose to market, do it regularly and consistently. Test your efforts if you are using classifieds or any paid marketing technique.
The most important thing I can recommend you do is to know what you want. Once you know what you want and what you want to achieve, then find out what the steps are to help you make it happen.
What helped me the most here was when I took Simpleology 101. Not only did I learn how to set goals that would help me achieve what I wanted to achieve, I finally learned exactly what I wanted. Then I was able to make it happen. This course is really all you need to help you get on track.

One final point: once you create a website for your business, make sure you check it in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. You want to make sure that your website displays correctly and that others can read it.

These two tutorials are the best that I have found online to teach you how to build your website, and your business, from scratch. Both of them are free. Once you start building your business, if you need more help, then this is definitely where I would start. Since both of these sites are in video, then it will make it much easier for you to learn how to build your websites and your business.
