The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing
I read a lot of marketing ebooks, and I use a lot of software. I do this because I’m always trying to find a better way to automate my business, as well as improve my marketing efforts.
There isn’t a whole lot I haven’t seen or don’t know about because I’ve been in this business a long time. In fact, I get products all the time that tell me things that I already knew, and I’ve wasted my time reading something that I already knew.
This ebook is definitely different, and even if you’re not in network marketing, you should read it.
Let me tell you why:
1. The author, Ann Sieg points out that you can have a mediocre marketing message, but if you put it in the hands of a warm market, you’ll get results.
2. If you want to start a network marketing business, you have to market, and you have to target your audience. It’s not enough to tell everyone you know about the opportunity you are interested in, you need to talk to those who are actually interested in what you have to offer.
3. If you can’t commit a certain amount of time to your marketing efforts, and you can’t commit a certain amount of money to your marketing, either you aren’t serious about your business, or you’re not in a position to start a business and successfully launch it.
In other words, you simply can’t market to anyone and everyone because you’ve been told that everyone is a prospect. This simply isn’t true. Just like any other marketing, in any other business, you have to target the prospects in what you have to sell.
She uses an example in the ebook I’d like to share with you:

In his book ‘Cashflow Quadrant,’ (p.27,28) Robert talks about how he has people approach him all the time about starting a new business or how to raise money for a new project. He can instantly tell whether that person’s focus is on the product or the system of business by the words they say. Things like:
“This is a much better product than company xyz makes.”
“Nobody else can compete with this product.”
After listening to their pitch, he slowly asks them, “Can you personally cook a better hamburger than McDonald’s?” So far, everyone he’s asked that question has said “yes,” they can.
He then asks, “So, if you can cook a better hamburger, why does McDonald’s make more money than you?”
Some people see the difference immediately and some just don’t get it. The problem, as Robert explains, is that most people focus on perfecting their skills at making a better hamburger rather than the skills of selling and delivering the hamburger. McDonald’s may not make the best hamburger, but they are the best at selling and delivering a basic, average hamburger.
He then goes on to say how the absolute most important skills a business owner can ever develop are sales and marketing.
When I read that, then I finally got it, and it’s something I’ve known about marketing in general for a long time: If the people that need to know about you and your products don’t know you exist, it doesn’t matter how good your sales letter is, what a nice person you are, or how great your product is. Unless you find, and connect, with those who want what you have to sell, you will never make any money from your business.
This is a lesson that the most successful business owners online have learned, and it’s what the most successful six figure internet marketers know.
