Article Traffic Vs Social Web 2.0 Traffic Hype

Craig Johnson wrote an interesting post on a comparison between using StumbleUpon to promote his sites versus writing articles.

I found this post interesting because I’ve been using articles to promote my business, as well as bookmarketing my sites. I’ve gotten similar results with my marketing, and so I’ll be sticking with article writing.

That’s not to say that social marketing can’t be effective. There are lots of Web 2.0 sites out there where you can get results, like You Tube, MySpace, and Facebook, although I sometimes find Facebook a little hard to use.

It all depends on how you want to market, but if you’re planning on using free techniques, they are largely content oriented.

For those of you who write articles, this is a must read, and it will validate what you’re doing. As for me, I’m going to just keep writing articles.
