Affiliate Program Guide

Periodically, I go back and read the comments on my blog. I’d like to say thank you to all of my readers. Your comments are interesting, and they do inspire me when writing my material, so I can provide you with newer and better resources.

One of the comments was from one of my readers, Matt. Matt is a college student in the UK. He wanted to exchange links.

I took a look at his blog, and he has a pretty nice blog, so I’ll be posting comments on his blog too.

He seems to understand that one of the most important things you can do with affiliate programs is to write reviews. Writing a review is a way of providing more information for your potential customer than he/she will get from a sales letter. This is valuable stuff because I’m often skeptical when I read a sales letter because I’ve bought too many products that didn’t deliver.

Now, with that said, there’s a tip I want to share with all of you, Matt included.

List building has been a big deal these days. In fact, list building is a crucial part of any business because if you don’t communicate with your readers and customers regularly, you can’t build a relationship. By building a relationship, then you can make the sale because your readers trust you.

To build a list, you need a subscription box. This is a featured that isn’t included on blogs, and that’s too bad. Only about 20 percent of internet users read blogs, and even fewer use RSS. If you really want to capture readers to your blog, you need to allow them to subscribe by email.

It’s really not as hard as it sounds. You can go over to Feedblitz and set up an account. You add your information, and the system will generate the HTML you need to paste a subscription box into your blog.

Once you paste it into your blog, you’re done. The whole system is automatic, and allows subscribers to subscribe and unsubscribe on their own. It’s also double optin, so readers have to confirm their subscriptions first.

The system sends out a daily digest when you post. This version is free, and you can add as many RSS feeds as you like. If you want more customization features, then you can sign up for a very inexpensive upgrade.

If you want to improve your subscription numbers, and everyone does, I believe this is the way to go. Not only that, but you give your readers options, as well as a little extra value.

I truly agreed with your view on providing value for blog subscriber in the form of review. Just to add on, I think marketers online should be creative when doing review. Always try to relate it to an event in the news or provide a video review (which is what I am going to do).

You will see a different traffic volume coming to your site with creativity in place.

    Hello Jinger,

I was wondering if you could answer two questions

for me pertaining to blogs and subscriber building?

1.Does a blog have to hosted to gain traffic?

2.I’ve noticed by observing your blog and others

is that there’s two ways to subscribe to a blog.

Either through rss or email. Would you mind posting

an article explaining the difference between both

subscription methods? Is it necessary to have both

or are they complementary to each other?

    Thank You

    Andre Hayward
