Have a Great Thanksgiving
I don’t write a lot about the holidays. Somehow they don’t seem very appropriate for this blog, but today is one of the biggest holidays in the US, and with the economy seeming to tank, I wanted to write a special message to all of you.
Although it may seem to be a hard thing to do today, one of the things I want you to do today is to take stock of your life. Are you happy where you are at? Are you doing the things you want to do with your life?
If you’re not, then it’s time to reassess where you are at and take steps to get to where you want to be. Each of us is special and unique, and each of us has special talents and abilities we can use to make the world a better place.
No one can change your life but you. If you are waiting on the right politician, the right government, or the right circumstances, believe me when I say that you will wait forever for that one. The road to success is paved with hard work.
If you don’t already, today is the day for you to start believing in yourself. Believe that you can have, do, or be, anything you want and then take steps to get there.
Count your blessings today. Be grateful for what you have. Simply by virtue of living in the United States, you have more and you have more opportunity than any place on earth. If you can’t be successful here, you won’t be successful anywhere else.
The United States is still a land of opportunity. If it weren’t, there wouldn’t be millions of people coming here every year to have what most of us take for granted.
Be grateful. Negativity, unforgiveness, and unhappiness will never bring you anything more than negativity, unforgiveness, and more unhappiness. If you expect others to make you happy, if you expect others to fix what’s wrong in your life, you will be constantly disappointed. I know this because I have been there.
When you take responsibility for your own life, and you take responsibility for your own mistakes, then you have the power to change your life in the way you want. Life is not a dress rehearsal. It’s the real thing, and you only have one chance at it.
If you really care what others think, stop it today. Some of the best advice I ever got was to “consider the source.” Look at the person who is giving you advice. Are they giving you advice for your own good, or to serve their own agenda?
There are some small people in the world, people who will tell you that you can’t do it because of your race, your sex, your faith, or some other silly nonsense. Remember, that’s all it is: nonsense. Ignore it and move on.
The truth is, when you listen to people like that, it’s just an excuse to excuse your own behavior. It’s an excuse not to take action because deep down inside, you don’t believe you can do it.
Count your blessings today. Take stock of your life and decide what you want. Eat some good food and enujoy your family.
Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
Enjoy your holiday and then go out there and go for it. You deserve it.
Share and Enjoy
