Online Advertising Will Thrive in Weak Economic Times

I very seldom ever read the local newspaper, and I don’t wathc the mainstream news channels like CNN, NBC, ABC, or CBS. The reason is they never have anything good to say. They also want to interpret the news for you.

Well, I have a college education too, and I’m not interested in liberal news that is long on emotion and short on facts. I mean, come on, these are the same people who are denying that we already won the war in Iraq. (Don’t believe me? As Iraqis stop living in fear, end of Iraq war is at hand, and there are plenty more stories just like that one) That’s just politics. Nothing more.

Now that’s not to say that I don’t feel the pinch occasionally just like everyone else. I do. I just don’t spend my time obessing about it, and I sure don’t blame my economic woes on race, or my sex, or something else. My finances are my responsibility, my life is my responsibility, and my happiness is my responsibility. It is not the responsibility of the government or anyone else to save my butt every time I make a stupid mistake.

America has become a nation of whiners. This whole concept that life is not fair, and that it has to be fair for everyone is stupid.  Quite frankly, people like that need to spend a little time in Africa or some other poor place through the world. Will really put things in perspective for you.

If you have a roof over your head, food in your mouth, and a little money in the bank, you’re part of the top 8% in the world financially. For those of you in America who want to whine about how tough you got it, what makes you think you deserve to be treated any better than any other human being on the face of this earth? In other words, what makes you think you are so much better than anyone else that you should never know sorrow or pain?

As I said, I’m sick of it. For those of you who think you’ve got it bad in America, there are billions out there that have it a hell of a lot worse than you do. They would also love to trade places with you. Get over it.

May sound a little harsh, but like I said, there are a lot of places that are a lot worse to be. There are a lot of worse situations to be in.

Now, maybe some of you are in a legitimate pinch. Maybe you didn’t do anything at all to cause your situation. These are bigger things like being laid off by your company or something like that. Totally different situation.

Here’s what you do:

1. Start that business. Doesn’t have to be anything complicated. It can be as simple as going over to Clickbank and finding five products to write classified ads for and then posting them on US Free Ads. Most people who are looking to earn extra money online are only looking for an extra $300 - $500 a month. Bum Marketing works like gangbusters for that one.

2. If you already have a business, market more. Conventional wisdom in business is that if the economy is in an economic downturn to cut back on marketing. Nothing could be further from the truth. Market MORE. The more you market, the more likely you are to make the sale.

3. Don’t expect the government, or anyone else for that matter, to bail you out. It is the business decisions YOU MAKE that determine the economic health of your business. If you’re one of these people that has this notion that the world owes you something because of something that happened to you, get over it. Life isn’t fair, and there’s no way to make it fair.

4. If you need to cut back on your business expenses, do so. Cut back on things you don’t need, or don’t use, and don’t buy anything that doesn’t contribute to the overall growth of your business. I apply this test to everything I buy for my business, and I don’t let the state of the economy determine this. It also saves me a lot of time reading or using things that won’t help me grow my business.

Income - Expenses = Profit. It’s simple math.

5. If you need to learn how to market, then learn. If you need to buy a piece of software that will speed up your marketing and save you time, then do it. Do what it takes to grow your business. Apply a little sweat equity to your business.

The biggest determinent in business success is how hard you work and how many sacrifices you are willing to make. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get to a point to where your business is running itself. The internet does make that part easy. However, anyone that tells you that you don’t have to put any effort into your business, whether it’s time, money or both, is lying. You get out of it what you put into it, and if you put nothing, you get nothing.

6. Develop a new attitude. Instead of looking at what’s bad, how about looking at what’s good?

I have to be honest: I can’t really think of anything to complain about. Most of the time I’m just plain happy, and I’m happy because I want to be. Because it’s a choice. Abraham Lincoln once said that “People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

This is not a subject I’m cavalier about either. I know plenty about depression, bipolar, and all that. Been there, done that, and I got the medals. I’ve wallowed in my misery plenty until one day I just got sick of it. I learned a valuable lesson from it all:

The only thing misery does for you is just plain hold you back. It serves no legitimate purpose. It will paralyze you and keep you from taking the action you need to take to solve the problem.

Business is good for me, and it just keeps getting better. It can keep getting better for you too. Take responsibility. Make yourself accountable for your actions. Look at your situation honestly. Ask yourself what the problem is and then ask yourself exactly what you need to do to solve the problem. You may not know the answer immediately, but when I get in that kind of situation, I sleep on it. The answer always comes.

The seed of solution is contained in your problem. Business cycles. Economic downturns are just part of the cycle. Eventually things will cycle again and get better. That doesn’t mean you have to wait around until it does to get more business.

Life is just plain good, and ultimately your attitude will decide your reality. Take action. Nothing happens if nothing moves.

I have the tv news on about long enough to watch the weather several times a week. They ain’t that accurate either. lol

I have lived thru the administration of quite a few presidents (fifty+ years worth of them) and I gotta tell you, I can’t tell much difference in my quality of life no matter who is in office. One thing I have noticed is that it usually take 4-8 years for the changes affected on the Hill to be felt in the economy.

Sooooo, that would kind of make this Billary’s mess more than George’s. We will need to wait and see in 4-8 years what ol’ Dubbyah has done to things.

I’m not jump up and down happy with either party right about now, but come election day, I’ll jerk on that elephants trunk like I always have. I just have a hard time with the liberals who want to call our soldiers baby killers while they pass laws legalizing abortion. That’s just pathetic to me. I don’t understand why any American in good standing would protect the rights of Al Quaida terrorists - I have no trouble at all with the notion of beating that bunch in Gitmo with rubber hoses until they tell us what we need to know - if it saves the life and limb of one American soldier. When they made the choice to become a yellow coward, they opened themselves up for that.

I could go on and on but you get my stance on things clear enough from this.
