S.3480: Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010 – U.S. Congress – OpenCongress
I really can’t think of anything I hate more than write about the political side of business. The reason is that too many people focus on the politics of the issue instead of focusing on what is important: how the issue will affect their businesses.
However, reporting on this bill is just simply too important to pass up. The bottom line is that no one in our country should have this kind of power. It only leads to tyranny.
Now, with that said, here’s the bill in a nutshell:
This bill will give Obama and all future presidents the right to shut down the internet for up to four months, all in the name of national security.
Sorry, that just doesn’t work for me. We can have freedom or we can have security. I prefer freedom. I can take care of my own security. My aim is still pretty good.
