You’re probably wondering why you should start an affiliate program.
First, let me explain what an affiliate program is.
An affiliate program is a program where the merchant, or program owner, offers a product for sale and agrees to share the revenues generated from any sales made by others who are selling the product (affiliates).
Now, at first sight, you may not think an affiliate program is a good idea. After all, you’re the one that did all of the hard work of creating the product, writing the sales letter, and the other tasks that are involved in product creation.
However, the other side of affiliate programs is this: if you offer an affiliate program, you give others more of an incentive to refer others to your website. You’re also using the power of leverage because others are doing the work of advertising, something you don’t have to do once you get affiliates promoting your business.
This reduces your advertising costs to practically zero once you get an affiliate program up and running. Even better, it reduces the amount of time you spend marketing your business.
This frees your time up to create more products for your affiliates to offer.
You can earn considerably more money from your business by offering an affiliate program than if you don’t.
If you decide that you want to offer an affiliate program, then you need to decide how you will offer your products.
These three sites below are good choices for offering an affiliate program.
Each has its advantages and disadvantages, so you should consider these before making a choice. Also, the type of product you offer will have a direct bearing on which site you want to use.
I do know that the advantage of Clickbank is that they handle a lot of your customer service, as well as affiliate payments, so this is a major advantage in terms of time and effort.
Sales Flurry
Clickbank
PayDotCom
If you sell books, CDs, or any kind of writing product, sites like Amazon and Cafe Press are good choices to consider.
Not only will you have a way to offer an affiliate program, but you’ll also have access to thousands of affiliates (all of these programs offer thousands of affiliates to you), but both of these programs will handle paying your affiliates for you.
If you offer your own products and/or services, I definitely recommend that you consider building an affiliate program as a way to increase your income.
