Yesterday I was reading my email, and apparently there is a new product launch where the person is using a “personality”. Two weeks ago it was some Englishman claiming to be Mafia.
Now it’s some guy claiming to be a US Army commando. For all of you who are civilians out there, there is no such thing as US Army commandos, nor are there commandos in any branch of the US Military service. It’s called Special Forces, and it all depends on which branch we’re talking about here as to what the specific group is called.
I personally blame the Rich Jerk for this. He’s the one that started all of this, and quite frankly, I’m glad that jerk went bankrupt. What he recommends works if you sell porn or gambling. I don’t. I don’t knock people who do, but I want to sell stuff that helps people, not robs them blind.
Now, you’re probably wondering where I’m going with all of this. Well, a few places.
First of all, it’s a felony to impersonate someone who is in the military. (See Title 38 of the Federal code). Since that’s illegal, I would stay away from doing anything illegal in my business.
This guy may be legit. Maybe he was in Special Forces. If so, then that’s what he should say. We’re talking credibility here, and it’s very hard to build online. Once you do, don’t jeordize it for some stupid sales trick.
I’ve seen enough of these types of product promotions online. Why not be who you are? Is that not good enough? You can make yourself different and distinguish yourself in other ways, like providing great products, treating your customers right, and keeping your word by delivering exactly what you are offering in your sales letter. Not nearly enough people do that online, and it really is a shame.
It’s also the reason I don’t promote anything and everything, and it’s why you don’t see the big names on my sites. If I can find a way to do it better, faster, and cheaper, why do I need them?
Take it for what it’s worth. This is just my opinion, but I’m sick of stupid promotion tricks to get your money. Read the fine print, do your due diligence, and only buy a product if it will help you make more money in your business.
