After posting part of my series on affiliate marketing on another blog, a reader posted the question, “How do you quickly build an affiliate website”?
Although I want to tell you the fastest way to get started, I also want to talk about the various types of affiliate websites you can build.
There are actually two types of affiliate websites that you can build quickly.
The first is a blog. It takes about three minutes using blogger, and after that, all you have to do is add two to three short posts a day to it, which will take you about 15 minutes. You can include product reviews, articles, and comment on various websites and provide additional information for your readers.
This is a very search engine friendly way to get indexed, and the blog is easy to maintain.
You can set up your own blog on your own server, or you can use an online service.
I use Nucleus CMS for my main blog because I feel that it has more features than Word Press. It does have its own limitations though, and so it’s a good idea to know something about installing scripts, as well as how to write a little bit of HTML.
The other choice, is, of course, to sign up for a site like Blogge. Blogger is probably the most popular blog on the internet right now, and it’s very easy to use. Since it’s on a highly ranked site, it’s also valuable because it can get you quick and easy exposure.
What’s key here is choosing a topic that you are passionate about, that there are a lot of searches for, and not a lot of competition.
According to Rob Bernell, who wrote Blogging to the Bank, the keyword should have at least 10,000 searches, but when you search MSN for your keyword term (put it in quotes), you should have no more than 20 million for your results.
This is the technique he used to build a network of blogs to promote his affiliate programs, and he reported that he’s currently making about $500 a day from his results. He uses niche blogs to promote a variety of programs.
The other type of site that you can build quickly is a mini site. For promoting affiliate programs, you need to build a one page site with a subscription form. This is so that you can capture the email addresses of your visitors. Again, this requires a little writing because you will need to write a product review, provide some articles, as well as some other type of valuable information to get your readers to sign up.
The easiest way to create a page like this one, and make a little money too, is to use Google Publisher. This site allows you to create and host up to 200 Google Adsense pages for free. After that, it’s a minimal charge. The beauty of this is that you don’t have to worry about how to build webpages, or where to go to find hosting.
In my next post, I’ll cover this topic of software you can use to build a website. Then I’ll get into the issue of scripts, and I’ll do my best to provide guidance on how to easily get this done.
