I will be perfectly honest with you. I feel betrayed. Years ago when I started my business, I could have made a lot more money from my business had I used search engine optimization.

I listened to a lot of online gurus who said to buy banners, buy advertising etc. It wasn’t until I started writing articles, creating content for my sites, and using search engine optimization techniques on my site that I began to see a major increase in my traffic and sales.

Although at times this can be an in-depth strategy to learn to implement, it’s worth it because it’s a free way to market your business online that can get you a lot of traffic and sales. If you can read and follow directions, you can learn search engine optimization using techniques that actually work, and they’ll still be working five years from now.

However, let me emphasize here that the best way to get traffic and sales using search engine optimization techniques is to only use “White Hat”.

“White Hat” techniques are techniques where you optimize the various parts of the page, create optimized content, and blend it into a content management strategy. This includes writing search engine optimized copy, or having someone write it for you. This strategy can also include linking, as well as tracking your site and tweaking your site for maximum optimization.

The search engines love good content, and if you provide good content that you’ve written, or had someone write for you, then you’ll not only make the search engines happy, but you’ll get targeted traffic from it.

Strategies like keyword stuffing, mirror sites, multiple domains for the same site don’t work. Any time you use any strategy that is meant to trick the search engines, eventually, you will get in trouble with the major search engines, and you can also end up getting banned.

You can avoid all that. Just use techniques that work. Techniques that worked five years ago and are still being used today.

If you are on a shoe string budget, and you want to get the most out of internet marketing, without spending a dime, search engine optimization is the way to go.
