I have nothing against those who want to live the starving, tortured artist lifestyle. Plenty of our greatest artists ever, including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Van Gogh, and others, were all tortured. They also created some of the greatest art that ever existed.

However, I live in the real world, and the fact is, the bills have got to get paid. If you’re a writer who wants to be a best selling author, either with books, articles, or whatever, why not pay your bills and do something you love: Writing?

Anyway, I’ve read a tons of books on starting a writing business, as well as plenty on freelance writing. However, in my opinion, my buddy, fellow Atlantan, Peter Bowerman is the best. He’s the author of the Wellfed Writer, Back for Seconds, and The Well Fed Self Publisher.

Peter has made some major changes to his site, including adding ebook versions of all of his books. The reason I’m posting this though is to let you know that you can get Peter’s books at a steep discount because apparently he quite a few dinged books on hand.

Usually, when the book is dinged there’s nothing more wrong with it than it’s been scratched, or the box the books were shipped in is damaged. However, these books can’t be sold at full price.

For writers who are looking for more money, or for those of you who want a change of career and love to write, then I recommend you check out Peter’s site. He really is the best, and he offers a free monthly ezine with lots of tips on freelance writing, as well as other information freelance writers would be interested in.

I don’t know how many books he has left at this time, so if you’re interested, I would check out this offer now.

I have to say I’m a big fan of the Book Buzzr site and blog. They always offer a ton of resources, many of them free, to help authors market their works.

If you go to this link you’ll find a list of free webinars that they’re offering to help you market your books. This includes marketing on Facebook, Twitter, and other sites.

One of the reasons I use CreateSpace to publish my books is that I can get them up on Amazon quickly. Since Amazon is the top online bookstore in the worled, you can do quite well financially selling your books there. You can also do quite a lot of other stuff there if you have products to sell.

However, I use CreateSpace for my books. The reason is that they have so many tools to help me with my books. I especially like the tools they offer to help with book covers.

Bookbzzz | Book Marketing Advice from the Experts

For those of you who write books and need help, Bookbuzzr.com has finally come out with a blog. On their blog, they offer all kinds of writing and marketing advice for authors from experts who are actually in the industry.

You will definitely want to bookmark this website and check back often as this is a tremendous resource for those who write books.

They also offer videos on various topics like Twitter. For those of you who use Twitter or Facebook, you can follow them on these sites.

Google Book Search is one of the lesser known of the Google properties. If you’re an author looking for additional exposure for your book, or you want to know what books are in the public domain, then this site is for you.

What Google Book Search allows you to do is to include your book in this special search engine. When readers type in keywords that are related to your topic, or related to information within your book, your book will show up.

Google also includes reference pages related to the books they offer. This provides additional content for your readers to read, but it also allows your readers to see if there are any reviews, web references, maps, or other content related to your book.

There’s also a way for readers to find out how they can get your book, whether they want to buy it or check it out from their local library.

Your first step in getting started with this program is to sign up for an account with Google, which is free. Go to the resource section for Book search and read the section titled “Resources for publishers and authors.” This will help you more fully understand the program and do a better job of setting up your listing.

Google also offers several downloads you may download and read at your leisure that further explain their different promotional programs, including Book Search. (Don’t neglect understanding how this program works. It will help you sell more books.)

When you are ready to submit, you need to sign into your account. Unlike some of Google’s other programs, this one requires that you apply for an additional account. Submitting to Book Search is not part of your basic Google account.

You will need to complete the application to add Google Book Search to your Google account.

If you are an author who published your book through a publisher, you will want to check with your publisher first. Your publisher may already have a Book Search account, or there may be something in your agreement that prevents you from submitting to Book Search.

Once your application is approved, then start submitting your books. Make sure you follow the terms and conditions of the program, as well as reading any additional material that Google offers.

The purpose of this program is to help you sell more books. If you’re really serious about making more money from your books, you’ll want to use this program, and best of all, it’s free.
